Patek Philippe 6105G-001: A New Celestial Watch with Sunrise and Sunset Display

At the 2026 Geneva Watch & Wonders exhibition, Patek Philippe unveiled a new addition to its Celestial watch collection—the Celestial Sunrise and Sunset watch, model 6105G-001. This is the first watch in the collection to display sunrise and sunset times in addition to a star chart, moon phase indicator, and date.

Building upon the “celestial” concept introduced in previous models, this new timepiece continues the manufacture’s long tradition of astronomical complications, adding functions previously only found in highly complex pocket watches or special timepieces.

This new mechanism, developed over five years and protected by six patent applications, provides a practical method for reading and adjusting sunrise and sunset times (including the transition between daylight saving time and standard time). fake men watches

At the center of the display is a familiar star chart, which reproduces in real-time the apparent movement of stars as seen from Geneva or any location at the same latitude (46°12’N).

The indicator is driven by a system of three superimposed discs rotating at different speeds.

The upper sapphire disc completes one rotation within a sidereal day (23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds), the second disc tracks the lunar day (24 hours, 50 minutes, and 28 seconds), and the third disc indicates the lunar phase with extremely high precision, requiring adjustment only one day every 3000 years.

The sunrise and sunset indicators are integrated into the outer edge of the dial through a unique layout, with the date scale displayed by a red hammer-shaped hand also serving as a reference for these two times.

Two additional hands on the right side of the dial indicate sunrise, and those on the left indicate sunset. These times change continuously throughout the year, controlled by a mechanical device based on two rotating cams that simulates the Earth’s axial tilt. chronowrist.ru

A patented stylus spindle system reads the profiles of these cams and transmits the information to the display via a series of racks and gears.

Another patented system allows for simultaneous adjustment of civil time and the sunrise/sunset indicator when switching between daylight saving time and standard time.

Two pushers on the left side of the case advance or rewind the time by one hour, while automatically adjusting related indicators without affecting the astronomical display.

This watch is powered by the new self-winding movement 240 C LU CL LCSO, derived from the ultra-thin movement 240.

Despite the addition of 121 components, bringing the total to 426 parts, the movement maintains a relatively slim profile, measuring only 7.93 mm thick. It vibrates at 21,600 times per hour (3 Hz) and has a power reserve of 38 to 48 hours.

The movement is wound using an off-center 22K gold miniature rotor, keeping it compact.

The movement features a Gyromax balance wheel and a Spiromax balance spring made of Silinvar, meeting Patek Philippe’s Seal standards, including a daily accuracy of -1/+2 seconds.

The case is crafted from white gold, measuring 47 mm in diameter and 12.39 mm thick. A distinctive X-shaped embossed pattern adorns the sides of the case, extending to the solid case back.

This design, employing alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces, lends the timepiece a modern feel. whereguidewatch.com

Two crowns control the functions: one at 4 o’clock for winding and setting the time; the other at 2 o’clock, dedicated to astronomical indication and equipped with a patented safety system to prevent accidental operation. Additional correctors for date and seasonal time adjustment are cleverly integrated into the case and strap.

This timepiece features a black composite strap with an integrated connection system. The X-shaped pattern on the strap echoes the case decoration and is secured by a white gold folding clasp.

Water-resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, the Celestial (reference number 6105G-001) combines complex astronomical indication with practical methods for everyday use, marking a new stage in the development of Patek Philippe astronomical fashion watches.
